The Bingo Revolution is here

Right from the 16th Century in Italy when a lottery "Lo Giucco del lotto d'Italia" became successful, the history of Bingo had started taking firm roots in our popular culture. Later, its variant named “Le Lotto” became very popular in France and then moved towards Germany.

The game of bingo as we know it today began to take shape in 1920s when a game named Beano was introduced. Once when an excited participant shouted Bingo instead of Beano, the game got its name. Many variants of Bingo followed afterwards, though the next revolution for the game took place only in 1990s when online Bingo arrived. As online Bingo became more popular, the myth that it was more of a game for old people got shattered since majority of players playing this game were younger people under the age of 50. Bingo is played mainly in two types, one which uses 5 per 5 card and is played with 90 balls is played mostly in North America, whereas the one that uses 9 per 3 card and is played with 75 balls is mostly played in Europe, South America and Australia. This version is also more popular in UK. The arrival of online Bingo is also termed as a revolution since it allowed players to play from the comfort of their homes rather than going out and playing in a casino. Online Bingo also gained from increased facilities provided by website owners who fostered the spirit of community by introducing chat and other interaction methods.

With the increased level of interaction in the online bingo websites and consolidation in the Bingo industry, online Bingo is fast becoming the mainstream in the UK. More number of larger companies is getting involved in the business forcing everyone to wonder what is next for the online Bingo industry. Right now two main software providers are dominating the online Bingo market which means even rival gaming brands also might be selling basically the same product. The market still remains such that new players still find it easy to enter the market and gain market share at the cost of established players.
As the online Bingo segment becomes more consolidated with time, the supplier and gaming sites relationships will be redefined because it is the products that will get market share for the companies rather than just branding and marketing activities.
